Went for a walk tonight
    #4032260 - 04/08/05 09:29 PM (12 years, 24 days ago)

Through the woods on the property I live just to see what has started to grow, I took my camera to document it. Not too much just yet.

Some stink cabbage is starting to proliferate along with the moss. It's been very rainy recently so I'm not surprised their as far along as they are.

As I was walking around I found a friend, he followed me through the woods everywhere I went. He was pretty friendly for a barn cat.

There's also a pond and some horses on the property. The pond has some pretty large fish, but I was unable to get any good pictures because of the reflection off the water. The horses aren't mine and I don't ride them, they're my landlord's.

Count Basie used to own this property I now live on. For those of you unfamiliar with American music history. Count Basie was a prominent pianist and bandleader of the jazz and swing era. He played with such others as Duke Ellington and Fats Waller. Anyway, he owned the property at one time and had electricity installed in the woods so he could walk around the woods at night. Here is a lamp post that remains from his installation. The ballast has been replaced but the support is original.

That's about it, hopefully as the weather gets better there will be an abundance of diverse growth.

 Count Basie, though late 50's bop is my favourite Jaz.

The ocean and the bay are fairly close to my house, only a 10 minute drive or so. So I headed on down there and brought my cam, no plants, but i figured I'd just add those pictures to this.

The Verrazano Narrows Bridge is visible in the distance. (Quick! Figure out where I live! Confirmation will only be given to shroomery ladies looking for a date )
