Coco Coir question
    #4030480 - 04/08/05 01:24 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

Where do you get the stuff?? I haven't searched yet in fear of wasting my 2.40$/gallon gas!! Grrrr!!

I live in a fairly populated town, we've got walmarts, targets, home depots, Eagle and Ace hardwares.. etc etc. SO... would any of these places be a good shot?? Or do I have to find a garden center??? Since I don't know what coco coir is used for (eating or growing) I don't even know if youd find it at a supermarket or home depot style store. hehe.. what a dumbass eah? Either way, it would be much appreciated if someone threw their hat into the ring on this question!!

Thanks
Sammy

Never seen it in the places you mentioned, but it can be found at a garden center. Most common place is a pet store, for a couple bucks per brick.

Type it in a google search and you'll find tons of online sources, like:

Reptile or pet bedding of some sort I believe. Petco should have it.

Also used as a supplement for potting and other soils, great moisture retention.

Bed A Beast or Nature Bed is coco coir. I wasted lots and lots of gas before I found it. Dont even bother with PetsMart. Petsco have it sometimes.

Try your mom and pop pet stores also, thats where i found mine.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm..... thank you stranger! I'll get my ass out there and check it out. Does it usually come in bricks?????? This info will make it easier for identification. I think i'll check that.. and a local farm & feed store that stocks up on a lot of pet supplies.

Tanks

Bed A Beast, Nature Bed, Forest Bed by T-Rex.

yes it comes in bricks.

looks like this.

Look in pet stores in the reptile section...it is used for beding.

If you get to the Feed store or a Grainge...look for syringes and needles, Rye Grain and bales of Wheat straw...these things will come in handy.
