Casing Stage - Too wet mycelium?
    #4029863 - 04/08/05 07:14 AM (18 years, 11 months ago)

As I was away for 3 weeks i decided to dunk before casing.
Most of the mycelium didnt grow together too well the night before, and so I had loads of loose rye grains swimming in my dunking setup. I strained all of it, but I still fear that it was too wet. Ive cased with a verm layer (only a slight one though) beneath the mycelium and now fear that it is too wet below the casing and the myc may die or something. Can this happen?

Thankyou,
Jazz

Yeah you can drench the casing easily, I'd say apply a dry layer of verm all around (sides, top, bottom) to mop up that excess moisture.

I reckon you remove the casing from its container, apply a dry layer of verm all around, and put it back in container.

I just hcecked the aluminium foil which is covering the whole thing. It has condesation on it. This means, that the mycelium is producing heat, thus living, right?
On second thought it could just be condesation of the casing layer, or not?
