The Rapture

Did you know that this word is never mentioned anywhere in the Bible, yet is spoken of reverently and frequently by many fear-based groups? There are dozens of books on this "subject" based around one crytpic passage in the Bible.
Just saw a bumper sticker the other day, "If no one is driving, The Rapture just occurred and you were left behind." How egotisitically sweet a thought that is - "I am saved and you are not! Nyah, nyah, na-na nyah!"

Actually I was wrong. "Christian" appears 3 times. Some Muslim lied to me about that before.

get passed religion and the hoo haa. The rapture is very real, and is a part of the cycle of any existence in the entire universe. To be reborn, first the 'world' must be destroyed. Raptures are taking place this very instant on various levels.. How long or to what extent will THE rapture be? no one knows, and I don't care enough to dwell on it.

That's a pretty lame idea for a bumber sticker; they must be running out of ideas.

"The rapture" is nothing but an idea used for fear conformity techniques.
"You better become a Christian, or one day, when Jesus magically returns, you will be left behind and will experience hell on earth until Jesus comes to defeat you and cast you into a river of fire. Become a Christian or die!"
If I were to ever decide that thinking for myself, and rationality were too much intellectual work, then I would probably become a Christian. Its the perfect system of thought for those who don't like to think.

That in itself would be a great bumper sticker.

 Peace.

Good call!
made me think of one in St. Thomas U.S.V.I. that said, "We are all here because we are not all there". There was one in kauai in that said, "Life is a beach and then you ascend"
I agree, the left behind part in the one wouldn't come from the heart of someone being gathered up for the worth of a heavenly place. I wouldn't want to go to a heaven that had people like that in it or shall I say, people like that wouldn't make up my idea of a heavenly paradisic reality.
I've got my own thoughts on this rapture stuff. I think I will start a post on it.

well the concept of the trinity was created a few hundred years after jesus died, and was never spoken of by jesus.
If I'm not mistaken, the whole revalation chapter what written well after JC's death. Was it written by one of his apostles?
Just because organized religion is full of shit doesn't mean that their isn't some truth to the concepts that lead to their creation...

Anyone heard of the 'Left Behind' books? They are an extremely popular fiction series that depict what it would be like if the Rapture occured. These books have sales exceeding 57 million copies. They were purchased mostly by Christians who like to say they actually read a book within the last five years.
I saw one of the co-authors of these books, Dr. Tim LaHaye, on tv the other day. He was a typical tv evangelist- the man must be 70 years old with a full head of hair. Amazingly not one grey hair among them. It's a miracle!!

All at once everybody.. "Stop dying your hair!! Who do you think you're fooling?!"

I decided to make my own bumper sticker that says "Fuck you". Seriously. I think it is ingenious... money could even be made, if I feel the ambition.... hhhm......
 Peace.

You are going to inspire lots of road rage with that one I was gonna make one saying " I drive slow, deal with it" Just to piss off the road ragers.

who hasn't .... I got halfway through the first and I REALLY did not like this guys style. He is way too drawn out and caught up in his view of what the end will be. Next thing you know he will claim he is the anti-Christ and personally open the hell pit to the fires of doom

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.
I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too. If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.
