 Unable to respoond to thread

Hey, In the mushroom hunting forum I have just tried to respond to a thread on New Zealand mushroom time is almost here.
When I hit the reply button, a page comes on and says:

You have read only privileges for this forum.

What Gives?

O.K. I think I know the answer to this one. You're attempting to reply in a thread which has since been deleted or moved (or perhaps locked),since you clicked on it. It happened to me in the pub one time when I was replying to a thread which was deleted while I was typing.
I said it then that they should have made the error message more clear in such circumstances, and certainly not one that would mislead people into supposing that they've just somehow lost their posting priviledges.

Yes most likely this thread was moved to the dump or somthing by the time you tried to click submit. Once its in the dump no one can post on it.

The error message should be more accurate, someone should take the 2 minutes nescessary to fix it.

Well, how about instead of :
"You have read only privileges for this forum."
You could make it say something like:
"The thread which you are attempting to post in has been deleted."

But it hasn't been deleted, it is still there, just in a forum where he doesn't have read privileges.
If the thread was deleted, the message would be
We could not find the post or forum that you were trying to access.

Then why not make it say:
"The thread which you are attempting to post in has been moved to a forum in which you do not have read priviledges."
The way it is now, I was in the pub and tried to reply to a thread and saw "you have read only priviledges in this forum.". I assumed that somehow I had been banned from posting in the pub. That's not a good error message for the circumstances if you ask me. It should be changed to anything but that misleading message IMHO.

The information about wheter a post has been moved or not is not stored in the database. Thus there is no way for the system to know this. Thus, the above message couldn't be created.
So, either you have the permission to see the post and the post exists, then you see it, or you don't have the permssion to access the post, then you see the proper error message, or the post doesn't exist, and you see the proper error message.
