I just bought a cpu fan for my glove box and im wonderin does it have to be the same type that is in the ff archives section, and it has this thing attached to it with screws, like its a despencer to dispense the air throughout the computer or somethin, anyway im wonderin if i should take that off and how do i power it? it has a black and red wire going to this plastic white thing with 4 metal things stickin out the other side and has a red, black, black, and yellow set of wires goings out the same side that the first 2 were in, now do i just cut those off and use the first 2 black and red wires?

a cpu fan is worthless for glove box construction. When they said computer fans they meant one of those huge 12V blowers. costs about 16 bucks at radio shack.

Well, first you would need to know if the fan is 5V or 12V and what kind of aperage it requires. If you have an extra computer power supply just use that. Otherwise the 2 black wires in the middle are ground and are interchangeable. Red is +5v and yellow is +12v.

hmm, well i used my current hp computer, i took the case left panel off and pluged one of the things in the other fan's thing, and it worked. I just dont get how im gonna power the fan without that.

You can use it bud,it is a DC fan and you need a AC fan, go to Radio Shack and ask for Cat. No. 273-241C,that it the fan you need. Get a extentioncord and cut it and twist the wires together and plug it in.
Go get your self a $1 print at the FSR

No, get the fan ^^^^^^^^^ and carefully split the two wires down the center about 4 inches...so both wires are no longer touching each other.
rim the rubber off of each wire so you have about 1 1/2" of copper wire exposed. Connect one extension cord wire to one cooling fan wire and tape it with up with black electrical tape from your local hardware store. I used Heat-Shrink Tubing from Radio Shack Cat. No. 278-1611 but that is optional.

it can be either wire, right? or does it have to be the red and black one, cause like theres 2 wires that are conected that are goin from the fan into this plastic thing, they are black and red, then from that thing theres 4 more wires, its the same red and black, and then 2 more new wires, black and yellow, these 4 go to another plastic thing, which hooks up to the pc. but all i need ot know is do i cut those off and just the 2 original black and red wires?
