We have been for along time wanting to legalize marijuana, but the feds won't allow it, it doesn't matter how hard we try it doesn't matter if marijuana is the cure to cancer it probably won?t be legalized!!!
They will not legalize it, and ill tell you why!
Ok lets say that marijuana is legalized, >>> It would change the world <<<
Cannabis makes outstanding clothing!!! (Better then cotton)
Cannabis makes a highly efficient hydrocarbon fuel!! (Better then petroleum)
Cannabis makes great paper!! (More efficient then Oak and other hardwoods)
Marijuana is great for all types of medicine for all sorts of shit ( not just arthritis, and glaucoma )
Marijuana contains THC which is a chemical that is Psychoactive, the chemical inhibits a state of a dreamy drunkenness, ( alcohol inhibits a state similar to this ), it has a recreational uses (its fun)!
THC is soluble to alcohol, and fatty substances * Can you imagine in the foods that can come from this!*
You have multi-billion dollar industries paying people in high places not to legalize marijuana!!
That means the oil industry, the clothing industries, and paper, and all of the others that don't want marijuana to legalized!
The people say yes? big business says no!
So unfortunately it may not be legalized! :(

though smoking once in a while can be fun, I personally don't care for the legalization of it. it really doesn't do much for me to a point that I would care if it was legal -- on top of the fact that it is as easy for me to get as grocieries right now.
actually I don't really care for the legalization of any drug, with the fact that I can get almost anything I want, except a few research chems which I would love to try to out (2c-t-2 and 2c-t-7 especially)
but for now I can live with what I have

Just saying, it's not as easy to get as groceries. Hell we're still dry, as is every dealer in town.

When positive effects such as the ones Jason has just stated are brought up in court to help fight legalization of the drug we get closer to it being legalized..

Cannabis almost certainly won't be legalised in the forseable future -- to do so would require every signatory nation to the UN Treaty on Psychotropic Substances (or whatever the hell it's called) to simultaneously agree to legalise. As it is, no single country has the right to declare a scheduled substance "legal". This includes Holland and Belgium. What individual countries are allowed to do is set their own penalties for possession, sale, etc -- decriminalisation, in other words. I guess that the police could nail you even in Amsterdam if you really pissed them off.
I think big buisness would be second-in-line behind the potheads to want reefer decriminalised...as you pointed out, it has innumerable uses which rich wankers are undoubtedly eager to exploit. You're possibly right about the oil industry, tho'. It's mainly the police, lawyers and the people who build the jails that make money out of prohibition -- and the dealers, ofcourse.
The "people", or rather the ignorance of a large percentage of them, are still the biggest barrier to decriminalisation. The more intelligent, responsible pot-smokers make themselves heard, the faster a law-change will come about. We already have two self-confessed smokers in parliament in New Zealand, and the Greens', who support decriminalisation, are the third most popular party in the country (this is significant under our system of government, because the two main parties rarely have a clear enough majority to govern on their own, and depend on smaller parties to form coalition with). I give it another five years until cannabis decriminalisation is taken seriously by most non-european countries.

wrong, the libertarian party is the third largest in the country. They hold more seats then any other party, instead of republicans and democrats of course.

You don't get good pot from hemp and you can't make a teeshirt with marijuana.
Hemp is legal in Canada. Unfortunately, the market for it as a fuel and paper medium is still incredibly small.
