choice of container

I think a mistake was made when afoaf chose to case in some solid baking tins. They have been fine until a few days after cold-shocking. The water pooling on the edges is leaving rust spots.
I was told that the casing is fine because not enough air gets to the bottom to make it rust.
Afoaf can wipe away the rust on the edges, but should afoaf recase?
btw, I tried a search, and could not find anything.

They'll rust everywhere moisture is present, it doesn't take much 02 to oxydize (underwater objects rust).
If you're going to use metal trays to case, line them with plastic. Or even better, use plastic trays period.

Nope, I'd leave them as is. The rust won't cause you any problems.

I'd leave em alone too.
But use plastic containers in your future grows.

$1.00 each & 0.05 cents worth of aluminum foil = $2.05 per container
Excepting stainless steel, I would not advise anyone use metal containers for colonizing/fruiting substrates. You are right, they can/will rust.
Many get bye with throw away aluminum container trays, but I would not use them. As they are FLIMSY, will bend easy & Myc emits rather strong digestive enzimes that, can/will eat holes through them.
Finding the right size (for your circumstance) perfectly opaque container trays is sometimes difficult to do. How to REMEDY that is to purchase inexpensive plastic trays in PAIRS, then NEST the two togather with a layer of aluminum foil between the two.
Doing so provides a opaque sturdy inexpensive plastic container that, is easy & effective to use.

I used to use the Aluminum containers...but they got so many holes in them from the mycelium eating away at them that I stopped using them.
Yeah $1 Stores have some great deals on plastic trays.
I also like using the small 3 gallon rubbermaids for casing trays.

This is the casing I was referring to in this thread.
It's alive and doing quite well! It's still not an even pinset, but it's so much healthier and productive. It could just be that it's GT . I hear they are a good fruiter.
