A terrible car wreck

I was driving home from my new job and there was tons of traffic. I was getting kinda pissed until I realized the reason. There was this "car" on the side of the road, totally CRUNCHED. I mean, it just looked like a wadded-up ball of jaggety metal, as though the car folded in half and then got crunched like paper by some giant hands. There was no way anyone inside could have survived.
It made me sad to realize that while I was getting annoyed at traffic, someone in Austin was probably getting the tragic news of the death of a loved one.
Seeing something like that really makes you think twice about getting worked up about the little things in life.
RIP whoever you were.

you dont have to feel guilty about getting annoyed though.
Chances are traffic was so backed up because people were slowing down to gawk at the accident. That would piss me off too

Slowing down by the scene of an accident makes sense, you should be looking out for cops, paramedics and whatnot.
My stomach always sinks when I see an accident, it's such a creepy feeling knowing people are regularly dying in their cars all around me.

Here in Milwaukee, and in Chi too, shortly after the cops get on a scene of an accident, they have these big collapsible barriers that they put up around the cars, so people cant see the scene....
Cuts down on gawkers a bit, although people still try to see through the cracks...

At least the car wasn't on fire. Wrecks are bad enough. Those collapsible barriers can't stop the smell of burning human flesh and car. That's a smell you never forget, and never want to smell again. Cars are one of the most dangerous things around and too many people don't respect the danger of vehicles.

Just like 20 min ago, I was walking home from the liquor store and I saw a bunch of ambulances and police cruisers about 75 yards up the road. The accident must've just happened because there was no traffic backed up yet. I'm looking around for dented and banged up cars... but then I got to a certain angle and I could see someone lying on the street. Ah fuck... ya know that gut feeling that just hits you. Yeah. There was a whole crowd gathered around... my friend wanted to go over and see but fuck that... first off I don't want to see someone else in pain, maybe even dying. Second off, if I'm lying on the street after being hit by a car.. I don't want a fucking crowd gathering around me just watching me like I'm a reality TV show.

I've seen an asshole at the site of an accident honk his horn because people laying out in the road were blocking traffic.

friend of mine came over to my house a week ago... on the way over he was waiting at an intersection when he heard tires screeching, so he instinctively backed up a couple feet, and this SUV with some volleyball player behind the wheel skidds super close to him and up onto the grass. then he heard the noise of like a can bouncing around on teh street...it was a wheelchair. There was a handicapped guy laying face down on the hood of this suv blood everywhere. apparently the guy had an alcohol count of .30 or somethin, and was crossin the street when he shouldnt've. he died. theres flowers now, and marks on the concrete where they pressure cleaned the blood off.
This same friend earlier this semester also witnessed a dude who got hit by the train he was riding (got off cause the train was stopped, and he was close enough to his house to call for a ride). He was walkin, then he saw the body. He said that it looked like the guy was wearin a backpack, but it was his legs behind his head. his drunk buddy yellin 'he didnt make it, noooo' it was nighttime, and he had to get close enough to shine his cellphone light on him. again, drunks....
hard to retell stories when it wasnt me, but ya,....fucked up

35 traffic is the worst. i have to go from south to north austin every day. have you noticed alot more cops shooting radar this last week or two? On 35 south around exit 33 there has been a cop car parked on the side every day for over a week.

Do all you guys live in a commune with each other and I just don't know it yet? There's only 1 person I know that lives remotely close to me, and it's still an hour drive+ and I'm inbetween two big (and shitty) cities.

I think that there's just a high quantity of Shroomerites in the Austin area.
