there are lots of people who ask about bag manure
i thought it might be helpful if you could learn
from someone else's experience, without having to waste your time.

this was spawned with 2 and 1/2 quarts worth of brf cakes.
it has about a 20% spawn rate.
the lower layer contains 25% wheat straw.

this was after four weeks of colonization.
the last week was spent at slightly less than incubation temps,
as it was not worth the space it consumed in the incubator.

so, if you don't have a source of H poo,
then talk to this guy

Thanks for the information. I recently started a thread about store bought stuff. You answered my question.

"Thanks for the information. I recently started a thread about store bought stuff. You answered my question."

So that was your answer you were looking for and his first line is:

"there are lots of people who ask about bag manure"

So if this answered your question from your other post...dont you think the question could have been found with a search, if this question is asked enough times a day to cause someone to make a post covering it?

------------------------------------------------

Interesting results...the brand I bought wasnt Home Depot brand...it was Parkis Mills Composted Cow Manure. I know you mentioned it to me in another thread, but I dont really expect anything to come of this...its more to see results for myself, so I'll still be trying it out. Not untill I make enough horse poo casings to give me a free day to cook it up.. Plus I'll be adding more straw to it then that, verm, coir, worm castings, and more spawn (especially to the top) which is WBS mixed with rye soaked and simmered in worm casting/poo water... I dont expect incredible results, but I do expect it to fully colonize and fruit something...I wont be disapointed if it doesnt though

Scatmanrav, your signature says it all. I did the same search using the word manure earlier and 3 posts came up. I just did it again and "Store bought manure" came up multiple times. There must have been a glitch.

Really people, I am within 2 days of casing and not one, of my 3 whole posts, got me there. The figure listed under my name for posts includes replies. I really have only done 3 posts with actual questions. I do read and search the forum.

I am a first time grower, have 12 jars 100% fully colonized, and not one jar with contamination. So you hard cases out there need to chill out.

i'ld like to add that all us newbs, and i include myself in that statement, should realize the importance of the search here. i always check first and im constantly reading here, this place is so helpuful, the best site ever! most of the time when i post im terrified the old hats will tear me up about using the search better. the truth is the answer to all our questions are on here somewhere, its just sometimes we dont see it right away. not that any1 has ever been mean to me about it, but i understand that its important for many reasons. these guys have beeen answering the same questions for years, i find myself asking why they do it over and over, but im so glad there here to help us. you'll see what i mean if you havnt already, but keep in mind these guys know what their talking about. truth is i definately learned more about the search engine here by following this 'soap opera'. i never used the google one b4 'cause i thought it was for google, not the shroomery. now i know.

Besides the other BS.

Short answer to thread title is, HomeDepot bagged poo is good for the garden.

As substrate, it is not worth packing home, even if they gave it to you - FREE.

I triedd about 8 differing type bags.

NONE came near weathered h/poo (not even close).

Just my humble opinion.

Sweet stuff

The archieves is another incredibly usful tool I forgot to mention, that most newbies (and even people whove been here) dont even notice is there, right above the forum. Thats filled with great posts. I highly suggest reading through every post in the archieve, and every FAQ and cult tek in the FAQ..its incredible what you'll learn just from that. You start to understand mushrooms as if you were they're psychologist, determining whats wrong and how to solve the problems with their home environment and what not.

Just like having a basic number sense in math...you learn the basic, like add, sub, multiply, divide..you can apply those situations into more complex things. Thats all the most advanced math is...alot of basic math, put together. Getting advanced at this hobby is the same. Gather that basic information and the rest of the peices fall together.
