yes, you can dry things out, and waste your time. Yes it is a waste of time

I have to disagree. I have fallen asleep with my PC going and woke up about 6 or 7 hours later saying FUCK. I knocked the jars up and all worked well. The substrate became verm dark though. The verm became dark brown, but hell it worked. The cakes are fruiting fine right now.

ninja, why are you even here. You have proven nothing nor have you helped anybody. As for too much pc'ing you can carmelize sugars in the wbs, etc.. when you cook it too long

I'm sorry, did you manage to detect a hint of sarcasm in that sentence? Did I even disagree? As for my being here, no, I haven't busted any myths. I have an enthusiasm for Mycology. If I know something, I don't rub a new enthusiasts face in it, because I'm nothing more than a novice. If you've noticed, most of my posts are either satirical in nature or a genuine attempt to give my opinion. So, until I threaten the moderators with my heretical posting , I will continue to do so. Such is the freedom we both enjoy, no?

It's strange that everytime someone asks a question like how long they should pressure cook, everyone has these hard numbers. It really depends on how large the thing is you are trying to cook. It's like regular cooking. Would you cook a 20-pound turkey for the same length of time you would a 5-pound chicken? I don't think so. A huge turkey might take four hours while a small chicken will be done in 30-40 minutes.

For large spawn bags packed full, I would recommend AT LEAST 2 hours of pressure cooking. I load two large spawn bags in my 22-quart separated by lid rings--which is such a cool idea that someone posted on here--and pressure cook them for 3.5 hours. For half pins, on the other hand, 45 minutes is plenty because they are so tiny with such a large surface area per volume.
