Autoclave questions

Is it possible to autoclave petry dishes with agar inside? Has anyone ever done it? I think that if you mix the agar, the malt, heat it up, pour in the dishes and autoclave it before it cools down you can be 100% sure that's it's gonna be sterile.
Also, would it be bad if you autoclaved the agar after it has cooled down and solidified?
Thanks

Condensation will get inside the petri dishes if you do it like that. It's better to pour your agar into the petri dishes when it has cooled down a bit.
You can re-heat agar.

you also forgot the boil over problem that dishes may experience, I use a narrow necked flask stuffed with polyfil and allow the PC to depressurize to avoid that

I remember trying to do it one time, after a couple hours with a brillo pad my PC was shining on the inside as well as it did out side, never again.

I've screwd up in almost everyway imaginable in my early days, most of my screw ups now are deliberate, I use syringes that I know are going to grow mold and put them to work simply to test some ideas, so far I've developed some nast nasties and have learned that denatured aclohol cleans agar like a dream

Ok guys, you got me confused... So, if you pour the agar, let it cool then autoclave, it's gonna boil over and make a big mess?

i autoklaved pre-filled petris in my pressure cooker and let them cool down INCREDIBLY slow .. rapid cooldown would cause the agar to boil so its recommended to take care of reducing the heat very slow.
the agar then was left in the cooker overnight to soldify and cool and the plates were removed next day.
condensation was quite an issue but still i could pull clean cultures.
anyway, pouring peroxided agar into sterile plates is my way to go definitely. peace ohm
