My pressure cooker doesn't have a PSI guage
    #4018866 - 04/05/05 09:40 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

It's a fairly old PC, about 15-16 years old. Should I just sterilize the jars and whatnot in a pot of boiling water instead?

Why don't you inspect the PC to see if its usable. Maybe replace the rubber seal if needed, and run a test run before you decide against it???

My grandma gave me hers, it was old as well, i thought that everything was safe and rather new, but i replaced it just in case (over-pressure plug, rubber seal, another rack ect ect) and it worked out just find.

Luckily she still had the manuel, so I knew what psi it went to. Look at the bottom of the pot, it should say that companey name, if the companey has a site, you could look around for one that looks like urs  and research a bit about it to see if it tells what psi and stuff.

Oh no, it's useable... I use it every other day, for rice and barley and all that.

It's a "Presto" PC, model number 0125005. 6" deep and 10" in diameter.

edit: looked up the number, apparently it holds 6QT's

the presto will work, I believe it's about 7-8psi model, just give it an extra
30-45 minutes of sterilization time and you'll be gold
