Growin up with alcohol prohibition - a scenario for thought
    #4018710 - 04/05/05 09:05 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

Say alcohol was illegal starting in 2006, and someone was born in 2006. We'll call him Joe. By 2025 (Joe is 19), what would drinking alcohol be like? Just imagine if there was JUST as much bullshit about alcohol on T.V and from the government as there is for coke and MDMA.

Would alcohol be treated the same at ALL? Would it affect people differently? Would the idea of "killing your brain", which would be SO highly ingrained into Joe's brain, affect his experience with it? Would it be easier to be addicted to it? Would people die more often?

I'm curious to what you guys think.

I think, just like in the prohibition era, that it would fail miserably and that we'd be back to speakeasies and shitloads of drug rings ^-^

But the alcohol experience ITSELF. Like..hmm..maybe my question doesn't make sense?

I guess the alcohol experience really doesn't change, because it was made illegal for years and years and it was still just alcohol.

NEVERMIND

If nobody who was around when it was legal is ever around someone born during a prohibition, then yes, I think it would change significantly. However, the people who are raising little Joe have had alcohol be legal their entire lives.

given enough time they'd probably be treated like tweakers are treated today...

you go to a party/rave and there's a bunch of fucking drunks meh :crankey:

and they're not drinking beers mind you... they're drinking low grade moonshine with all sorts of icky stuff that you're not supposed to drink! and they no longer drink ssocially they get plastered raving drunk and puke all over you...
then they die of liver failiure at 35!

grim future for alcohol prohebition (at least the old paradigme prohibition)
