Invitro Misting?
    #4018057 - 04/05/05 03:36 PM (19 years, 9 months ago)

Once my Invitro jar fully colonizes can i just open up the lid and fan, then lightly mist the sides of the jar about 2 times a day? Then if water collects at the bottom, kind of tip the jar so it runs out?

I'm a bit of a noob but this pretty much sounds good to me. I would worry about standing water inside the jar though..even if you did dump it out every once in a while. Blotch...

You may also want to just get some kind of filter for the top so the air is exchanged easier.

I have 3/8 inch hole with polyfill in the top, but once fruiting starts it will need to be fanned some.

I assume you're grwing invitro for privacy concerns. If that's the case maybe you should get a jar the next size up. So if you have a 1/2 pint cake, buy a 1 pint jar, put a jar lid upside down in the bottom of the bigger jar (to hold the cake) then put the 1/2 pint cake in the bigger jar. This way you can still mist the sides of the jar without worrying about blotch, you will be getting more CO2 circulation than with a 1/2 pint jar, and you will still have a small, easily hideable grow.
