what do they feel like?

the reason i ask this is because i overheated my cakes and killed the mycelium ,i just wanted to know if a cake that is almost colonized on the outside should feel hard on the outside, not like a rock but pretty damn hard, and if it should be thinner on the upper top half. im gonna inoculate 10 pint jars with a 10cc syringe in a about 5 days so guess i learned the hard way

peace

it should be pretty firm but not really hard, try shaving the outside from the cakes and fruiting them, start at 1/8th inch deep

the problem is the mycelium died becasue i cooked them, i gave it four days in a perfectly incubated enviroment and my jars never showed any further growth

well, to me they seem to feel pretty firm and rubbery. Takes a good squeeze to tear them up.
