hi everyone. I have a question about dunking cakes. I checked the dunk tek but it didn't mention anything about rolling in vermiculite. I'm sure I've read something about it here. Do I just roll the cake in verm. after I take it out of the water?

If a cake was moist enough to have verm stick to it, prior to dunking..........dunking a rolled cake..... would wash the verm OFF.  Dunk, then roll  .

I was more asking about the rolling tecnique. I just roll the whole thing in vermiculite? Not just the top, etc.

Yeah, you roll the whole thing.
What I like to do is to get a smallish plastic bag, fill the bottom with vermiculite, and then place the wet cake inside. Then you can "roll" the cake about quite gently in the bag, which avoids overly bruising the cake and, in my experience, allows more vermiculite to stick to the cake.
The basic objective is simply to cover the entire surface of the cake with vermiculite, which will stick to the cake as it is still wet from the dunk.

The guy who came up with the dunk and roll is weird and I hear he smokes a lot of pot when he comes up with teks. Here's the first dunk and roll post.

No, it has to be dry. This helps it stick to the wet cake.

it also helps to have the right size for it (smallish but not powder), some places sell different sizes. or you'll have to kinda shake it through a strainer. the small crap goes through. the big peices migrate to the suface and small ones end up at the bottom of the siv.
