severe overlay removal

Straw logs tend to develop severe overlay. This overlay can be removed relatively easily by dunking the log for ~24 hours. The overaid areas become slimy, like dead skin. Simply peel this thin, slimy layer off to reveal a living layer of mycelium!!

Um, the mycelium is supposed to colonize the entire surface of the straw in a log. That is not overlay. It is what results in the best pinset.

RR, there is a big difference between the slimy layer of mycelium in question and the normal outer layer of a straw log.

Hey, by the way, how many flushes do you usually get off a big thick straw log?

3-4, right?
