My best cake has a dark spot on it, and myclium growing around it. Can it be saved? It's doing so well :(

What color is it? Dark doesnt do it for me. If its any color other than white then it is best to chuck it. Your better safe than sorry (or dead).

the color seems to be dark blue or black
the texture is kind of fluffy/sticky and is about as wide as a dime. The mycelium is growing around it, and has for the past 2 days. It's pretty dramatic. sorry i don't have a picture.

OK, it sounds like a bacterial infection. You can still get fruit off these cakes. Once colonized, cut away the rotten substrate and case.
