Yeah this thread gets made frequently. I used to play a lot of WoW (59 Warlock) but now I hate it and see it as the escape from reality it really is, and I curse myself for investing 6 years of my life playing MMO's more than anything else.

God damnit.

I play on blackrock and so does my boyfriend. We are Zaali (me)and Zeris if you want to catch us on line.

Computer games don't affect kids. I mean if Pacman affected our generation as kids, we'd all be running around in a darkened room, munching pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.

Same here, but it was more like three or four years on Ultima Online. It really is a useless escape. You can do better watching porn.

No ONE wants to know the ultimate TRUTH, as soon as YOU find IT out, YOU want to forget IT.

You are everything's way of feeling itself.

I used to play as well and to be honest had a great time while I was playing. I think I actually only played maybe off and on for 4 months. However, it never become an escape from reality, I ususally only played when I was bored. I saw what it was doing to other people I knew that were playing. One girl basically locks herself away to play now and reads the novels when she isn't playing.

This other guy has always been a D&D player but it just sucked his life away. I don't think he does anything else now, and then on top of it they talk about it almost non-stop sometimes.

Last year in one of my classes I did research paper on how video games are being used to replace the common role of parents. The reward/punishment system of early childhood is being taking over by video games an while I don't want to say corrupting this new generation (or even my generation as we were the first generation to have video games fully saturated into our daily lives) but it is changing them.

Also an interesting note is people who really get into video games and use them as a crutch for reality or even to replace reality often have a weak parental influence. This isn't always the case obviously but a fair bit of the time you'll see this.

But I'm rambling never mind me.

I wasted two years on that! As an escape from reality, at least you won't get arrested for it.... :tongue2:

I just dont have enough time to sit down and run instances. I should today... but i have to go get a new hard drive to replace the one that just crashed. Damn western digital.

This is the only time I really feel alive.
