hey does any one know if the songs you want to put on a ipod have to be bought(like from iTunes or napster) i was thinking about getting one but i like my bootlegs/free music

Not sure about Ipod. I have a philips hdd, and I currently have about 4500 songs on there, few of which I actually own.

They dont have to be from itunes. I've never got any of my music from there.

You can import into the program itunes from other sources.

yeah, i have a 20gb full of music, never paid for a thing. they were all downloaded from kazaa, etc.

You can rip CD's too ya know.

That's what 95% of my music library comes from since I accidentally fried my HD with all my p2p downloaded music on it an hour after I got an ipod.

they dont have to be bought but they cant be bought any place other than a non encrypted store or itunes, other music stores wont work because they use windows media DRM wich isnt build into the ipod. but if your like me and steal it all that dosent matter. but id advise a karma rio over a ipod allot more features better price and it supports ogg and flac codecs

I have an ipod mini and have had a ton of other portable devices. What it all boils down to is "hey, you want the little gizmo that really does kick ass, that everyone's raving about, but is outrageously over priced?" then you say "hell yeahhhh, I'm bad ass!" and you buy one and get it over with.

I kinda kick myself from time to time because there's other players that are just as good, if not better. But any of the ipods will not disappoint you asides from the crazy price tag associated with them. Still, I love my ipod mini more than any other played I've owned. It's small, sexy, does everything I want to. I should be in a god damned ipod commercial, but even they're commercials kick enough ass as it is.

iPods play MP3 and even raw WAV files as well as Apples DRM-protected flavor. Mine has never even seen anything other than MP3.
