martha/ultrasonic Q

so i bought a holmes coolmist and ultrasonic for my martha, but the coolmist has a huge fan type opening so it won't work... i'm hoping i can get away using just an ultrasonic
i know they put out a lot of humidity, and one way that can be fixed according to the MMGG is to run tubing through a few 2-liters to help condense the air and remove some moisture
i'm wondering if i do this w/ the ultrasonic turned all the way down, i could just let it run 24/7 or maybe an 18/6 or so? any thoughts? thanks all!!

If your hoping that running the ultrasonic for 24/7 will give you the fresh air exchange that the cool mist wont...neither will the ultrasonic. What you want to do, does nothing more then make the humidifier act like its on a timer...its not going to provide fresh air, you need a cool mist for that.

see i was hoping the ultrasonic could provide enough fresh air for 3 or 4 bulk casings on two shelves at the top, piped over top of them, and also through the 2-liters to drop humidity, so that way they're always getting fresh filtered slightly humid air directly on them (while also being in an encloser that has a high RH)
the reason i asked about the timer is, i think they would be ok only being directly hit w/ airflow for __ (insert however long you think they'd need it, i'm guessing 12-18) hours a day
any comments on this? thanks again
:edit: oh, and what coolmist manufacturer do u prefer to use?

You don't ever want any airflow going directly onto a casing, mucho contams.
Also might want to try opening up the bottom of your chamber a little bit, that will let more CO2 escape but beware of contams.

Sorry, it wont. Ultras put out ZERO air exchange...not enough for a single casing..and to much moisture to blow directly onto the casing saftly. Its better to put a cool mist hose below the ultra to disturb the mist as it enters.
And impeller style cool mist will work (Kaz Vicks..thats one brand)..

alright thanks for the info guys... i didn't think everyone was that worried about contams in their martha since the humidifier air is filtered and your casings should be fully colonized
this just sucks cause i bought a holmes cool mist that won't work and now i gotta get another, damn it
thanks for the help scat, i havn't turned my ultrasonic on yet so i havn't felt what kinda air flow it puts out... well i know what i gotta do, thx all!!

I knew you hadnt turned it on yet, or it wouldnt have been a question
You shouldnt feel bad I have two closets, so purchace 2 humidifiers at a time..I bought FOUR of them evaporative cool mists (two different kinds in different situations..the first time didnt know better, the second time the diplay model was the right homes cool mist (impeller)..but the two boxes under it werent)...and two Vicks Vaporizors (puts out HOT mist)...before I finally got the right thing....off ebay...

i bought a coolmist with like an 8inch fan on top... anything will work as long as it gives off humidity...
What i did was use the bottom half of a milk gallon jug, and lots of duct tape.. and the tubing i used to connect this to my martha was clothes dryer ducting. its about 3" in diameter and is very flexible. i have it my coolmist coming in directly in the center on the cieling.. and the ultrasonic towards the top on the side.
Get it back from your girly.. it's still good!

Your cool mist puts out no where near the humidity the Vicks (or other impeller ones) do. I'm not really going to get into it though...people can judge who to listen to themselves..
