Why not?
If it was a good idea in Iraq, why is it not a good idea in Cuba?

Personally, I doubt Communism in Cuba will survive after Castro kicks the bucket. It's basically held together there by a cult of personality, like most dictatorships. I think the best way to undermine Communism there would be to end the embargo. When the people see that their way of life doesn't improve much after that, they'll no longer have us to blame.

I'm sure that most of you know that the U.S. backed the Batista dictatorship that once ruled Cuba. After Castro took power, the United States government was basically embarassed.
Paradigm, i'd like to see some evidence to your claims.
Also, I don't think being a puppet democracy to the U.S. would be a good transfer at all.

Are the Cubans a threat to anyone? And I'm not talking about boat loads of black Cubans coming to the shores of Florida.

That was my prediction based on the fact that Communism has never been very effective at generating economic growth. While it's true that trade with the US would bring modern cars into the country rather than the 1950's cars they still drive, I just don't think it's likely that their economy will improve that much just based on one new trading partner, even if that trading partner is the world's only superpower.

China's doing pretty damn good.
The U.S.'s meddling has probably got alot to do with Communism's history of failure.

It's pretty daring to even consider China a communist state anymore. Don't quote me on this, but I remember reading in a Foreign Policy article that around 40% of their GDP comes from the private sector.

Has a true Communist state ever existed? I can see Socialism as a more realistic goal of a country than Communism. Not that I support Socialism just that I can see it as a viable form of government.

A true communist state has never existed. I would say the closest example would either be China under Mao (during the Cultural Revolution) or Cambodia under Pol Pot.

I wouldn't even say Totalalatrian anymore. Ever since Mao kicked the bucket, I don't think they care too much what their people do, as long as they don't threaten the CCP for power.
I would say that they are a socialist authoritarian gov't who are rapidly moving towards the privatization of much of their economy.
