Joy Division
    #4007815 - 04/03/05 07:16 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Well this has to be my all time favorite band, i'm wondering who else knows about / listens to them.

24 hour party people is a great movie about them and Ian Curtis. They recently staretd a new movie just about Ian Curtis called "Control" produced and written by his wife also produced by tony wilson.

yeah I really enjoy joy division also, and to a lesser extent new order.
24 hour party people is indeed an awesome movie

listen to movement by new order.

I thought 24 hour party people sucked, personally. I am a big JD fan.

Yes. Atmosphere is one of my favorite songs. Best when relaxing and smoking some marijuana.

im not a partcular fan of joy division, but i do really enjoy thier works as warsaw (failures, drawback, the walkd in line, transmission, the orig interzone). more raw and punk rock style, thats the god stuff.

i would really be into the jo division sounds but i dont like the sound of thier albums. its not the artists themselves because everyone know thieyre great, but whoever produced and engineered the album did it all wrong. too much oversaturation of verb and such. sounds like youre listening to an album outside of a club, too much verb, too muddy.

ive heard stories about how the labels would let prods put synths and studio effects into thier music without joy division's permission and they didnt like this very much.

Like em alot; Ian is a hella sick dancer, a hipper Joe Cocker kinda. My fav son is probably Disorder.

24hr Party People was cool, when the drummer was left on the roof was funny. I thought the Happy Mondays were gold in it.

They played 'Love will tear us apart' at my friends funeral, I was so filled with emotion I've never felt like crying so intensely yet not crying.

Yea, Disorder, Komakino, No Love Lost, and Atmosphere are probably my favorites, some of thier unreleased stuff is pretty good too.

meh.. I'd consider them goth. moreso... In fact, the term 'goth' was coined by Tony Wilson in describing the sound of Joy Division....

They might not be industrial per se, but they were definately a stepping stone for industrial rock...

I very much agree, but i'd go with a more New wave / Post Punk. (thats what I hear them classified as most anyway) Either way theres no one out there like them.

I'm a casual Joy Division fan, I like Atmosphere, Dead Souls, Transmission and Warsaw.

I'm a bigger fan of New Order even though I hate most pop music. True Faith is a badass song-- I never knew it was about drug addiction until a few weeks ago!
