spooky sound on a recording
    #4007237 - 04/03/05 01:51 AM (11 years, 8 months ago)

today i was recording an idea for a song on my grand piano (for real i have one, its like 9 feet long).

well i was satisfied with the second take, so i looped it over some drums. I didnt hear anything strange when i was recording, but upon listening to the recording i noticed that theres an eery tone spanning the loop. its kind of like a high pitch violin at first, then it kinda transforms into a heavenly voice/whistle sound. which makes no sense, considering this is an old acoustic piano, and i've never heard such a sound come from it.

it fits the music perfectly, and gives it a spooky but beautiful touch. im almost certain its some sort of harmonic thing coming from the piano. but the change in tone, and the way it ends abruptly make it seem almost ghostly. maybe its an EVP of a ghost singing along with my music? lol

well whatever it is, it freaked me out a little. but in a good way

hmm...that's pretty crazy to hear man, you should post a little clip of the possible EVP. if it fits perfect with the music it would lead me to believe that there was some sort of interference associated with the recording. Pretty cool regardless, maybe try recording the piece again the same way you did the first time and see if it's there. If it is then it's most likely interference.

i'd love to post a sample. its only about 14 seconds long, and the spooky noise is very low. i find the only way i can hear it clearly is to unplug my external speakers and listen through my built in laptop speakers.

anyway, like i said, i'd love to post it. but this really isnt ground breaking enough to spend my time setting up an account on some site where i can upload the sound.

though it is spooky, there are no words or anything to qualify this as an EVP.

if anyone wants to hear it PM me and i can send it to you through email or something, then you can post it for the world to hear.

P.S. crappy speakers, such as those built in to a laptop, are almost essential to clearly hearing the full spookiness of the clip. but from the very beginning you definitely can hear that theres more than just a the sound of a piano happening.
