If you sterilize you have a greater chance of contamination...
Theres a lot of people who do sterilize so try it...
Make shure its real clean before trying it this way

to be precise, sterilizing will kill everything there is in the poop,
every microorganism will go balla balla.

by pasteurizing, you do not go sterility apocalypse but still leave some
of the microorganism inside the straw or poop alive, which actually AID
you in getting your straw colonised by whatever you spawn it with before
any other mold fungus or whatever can take hold on it.

to sum it up, you can do both, sterilize and pasteurize, but without a flowhood
pasteurisation will be your way to go b/c of above mentioned reasons.

its all in the faq, the above stated surviving organisms resist outside contam whereas sterilized substrates have nothing competing with outside contam. we all know how quickly contam moves through a sterilized jar. myc can still colonize the past. sub. and the substrate is good for about two weeks. it has an expiration date just like milk.

some people add poo to a mix in a jar with a filter on the lid andd sterilize and 'noc that. ive never done that and always thought simmering grains in the "shit broth" you get from pasteurizing in water, as opposed to the oven, would be better as it remains shakeable. but this is not well suited for bulk.

As everyone said..the bacteria your saving isnt for helping fruiting...its for fighting off contams. Properly done, it will do this well. Open a jar thats been PCed (of anything nutritious) and expose it to the air, its going to become contamed. And spores dont work so well with poo so you'd need to expose it.

PCed poo can work though if you do everything sterliy...just definatly not a good idea to do so.
