Different grain (legume)

This time I tried using lentils instead of rye or corn? Do you guys think lentils will suffice? Its more of an experiment, although the nutritional label said it has a lot of complex carbs, protein and very little sugar. Rice and Rye have the same thing...

i couldn't begin to tell you if potency will be affected. you'll just have to experiment with that yourself!!

I did once some PF-tek jars substituing BRF for Lentil flour. It did colonize nicely and it fruited but poorly, just one flush. Very small shrooms that developed to a point where they stop growing but didn?t abort neither opened their caps. They were just standing there doing nothing, looking like aborts but with a healthy brownish cap color. About potency, can?t tell you cause it was so little amount of shrooms that I had to add some more from a conventional casing to the dose. The strain was MR.
I don?t know how it?ll work as spawn for bulk grows (whole lentils) but it should just work fine as long as myc. colonizes it well. What I?m gonna do next time is mix it with WBS and a little dung as a fruiting substrate and see if I can get bigger shrooms. What I liked about lentils is that there were no aborts in the casing, considering MR is the strain most aborts produces that I?ve ever seen. Maybe lentils inhibit aborts to happen and could be use as an additive to the fruiting substrate. But you know, this is a cheap "one time" theory that needs to be proven by experimenting with different strains and different substrate formulas.

Good luck.
