READ THIS!!!-Fukkin' Crazy-Azure update
    #400188 - 09/21/01 04:16 PM (22 years, 6 months ago)

Well as some of you know I've been workin' on an azure patch for quite sometime. Well a few weeks have gone by since I laid out my peroxide & honey water soaked alder. The growth really slowed due to outdoor fruiting temps. So I dug up my patch.
I have a Heavy-Duty cultivator I made that I was planning to use for cubies but since I have yet to get all of the supplies need to start them. I decided to turn this cutivator into a gigantic incubater. I lined this thing with plastic tarp to try and keep it clean. Then I dumped my azure patch into this thing, wrapped the tarp all around the alder- almost a perfect seal.

Anyway it's five days later and I opened 'er up and noticed that some slugs had died from lack of oxygen and the myc was eating the slugs!!! --Growing faster and thicker on the deceased slugs than the alder!!! But the slugs seem to be givinmore nutrients and is helpin' the alder colonize quicker, I wish I had a camera to show it off..Pretty Fukkin' Crazy.

I have done some research into using meat as a substrate and seemingly the mycelium, being a secondary decomposer, cannot do it.

I have seen mycelium grow over rocks, are you suggesting that the rocks have some nutritional value? MUSHROOMS DON"T EAT MEAT. Yes, it might grow OVER stuff.

I know this is old, but I just read it.

Slugs have very little meat in them. They are mostly water. So I think the reason the myc is growing so well on them is because of all the water contained in the dead slug.

Don't be a smart ass.
