CO2....or humidity?
    #400139 - 09/21/01 03:27 PM (23 years, 5 months ago)

Ok my friend has been growing 'gulf coast' cubies and cased them in strait verm...they all pinned just great......but they were rather thin looking and only grew about 3-4 inches tall then the caps opened.....the setup uses a cool mist humidifier and a 10 gal. fish tank....the humidity is always at 84-86%
Why are my friends shrooms so dwarfed? I figured it was a buildup of CO2 but someone told me it may be my casing was a little dry.....I then put the humidifier to the 'high' setting....mediocre improvement......Any advice?? I thought about putting a small aquarium air pump in the bottom of the tank to pump air out..... Also a note: He leaves the humidifier on 24/7.... Another thought I has was that the casing were rather small........they are in Glad disposable baking dishes(about 3 1/2 inches tall and about a square foot) bottom casing layer is about 1/2 inch verm then 1/2 pint of colonized birdseed then about another 1/2 inch of verm...... would this effect their size at all?
Sorry for long post....
Thanks for any help....

How could it be too humid??? There is no visible humidity of any kind.....Also why would too much humidity dwarf them?

I'll just mention that Gulf Coast is a strain that usually fruits many, small shrooms. Not near as big as B+ or others.

Try another strain!
