saint malachy...
    #4001284 - 04/01/05 05:42 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

pope john paul II is nearing death even as i write this...and according to st malachy..there will only be two more popes before the roman catholic church disbands...

gloria olivae..john paul IIs successor..is only given a passing mention..which suggests that he will be a short-term transitional pope...among the leading candidates is the brazilian claudio cdl hummes..who is already 70 y/o...

and while st malachy is somewhat nebulous about gloria olivae..he is very clear about the pope that will come after him ..

Quote:

In extreme persecution, the seat of the Holy Roman Church will be occupied by Peter the Roman, who will feed the sheep through many tribulations, at the term of which the city of seven hills [rome] will be destroyed, and the formidable Judge will judge his people. The End.

the allusion to the destruction of rome..however..might only the church and not the rest of rome...in either case..if we are to believe malachy..the end of the roman catholic church may soon be in plain view...

I have a prophecy that I'm gonna go eat some pizza and have a smoke within the next 10 minutes... I'll let you know how it works out.

Destruction of Catholicism? pffft! not likely, they could do practically anything including genocide and get away with it. I thought that the fact that a relatively large portion of the Priest's being pedophiiles was enough... but

/wonders what it would take.

there will only be two more popes

Not according to the article you cited:

"It has been noticed concerning Petrus Romanus, who according to St. Malachy's list is to be the last pope, that the prophecy does not say that no popes will intervene between him and his predecessor designated Gloria olivoe. It merely says that he is to be the last, so that we may suppose as many popes as we please before "Peter the Roman".

It would be fitting though for both the first and last popes to be named "Peter". Just as the first and last Roman emperors were both named "Romulus".

the article then goes back on that (rather weak) disclaimer in the table..when it expressly lists the last pope as #268...for that matter..nor did the prophecy explicitly state that the other 111 had to directly succeed each other either..but they all did..so there is no reason to believe it will be any different this time...

Maybe they intend to liquidate all their assets during that time period... and allow all the other religions to claim a stake in the casino that is organized religion.

Then again, I see no reason why not to milk it as long as possible. Perhaps just another prophecy aimed at strengthening the believer's faith through an affirmation of another form of "doomsday event"... which would increase intensity of following to prevent said forecasted prophecy. I dunno.

update... [Re: Annapurna1]
    #4075088 - 04/20/05 01:06 AM (11 years, 7 months ago)

ratzinger elected pope benedict XVI...

im not sure whether ratzinger is a member of the benedictine (aka olivetian => gloria olivae) order..but he still took the name...ratzingers' age (78)..insider status..and the quick conclave (especially given the issues involved) all point to an interim pope...

So according to St. Malachy he will be the final pope.

incorrect...according to malachy..there will be one more pope after ratzinger...IMO..ratzinger was meant as an interim pope to buy the conclave more time without leaving the sede vacant too long...however..ratzinger has had a neocon-ish past..which may be cause for concern if he outlasts an "interim"...

My understanding is that in the original printing of Malachy's list there is only one more Pope after Solaris, but after the 1820 publication this last Pope mysteriously appeared (Peter). "Sometime between the first and subsequent printings the 112th, Petrus Romanus, was added to Malachy's prophecy." http://www.jpdawson.com/lastpope.html

It seems to me that the Catholic Church added this one so that there could be an interminable number of Popes in between Olivae and the final one they added, making the church able to go on forever. Every organization seeks to preserve itself, I doubt they would publish that list publically as originally given for fear the prophecy might be self fulfilling. It would have stayed in the Vatican archives permanently.

I agree with you about Ratzinger being meant as an interim pope. But he may well last a good long time; He appears to be in excellant condition for a man of his age, or any age. As the theological "enforcer" for Pope John Paul II his job was to maintain church dogma and there is no reason to expect he will be any different as pope. So if you believe the prophecy he may well set the stage for the destruction of the Catholic church.
