Temps. and Pinning?
    #4001012 - 04/01/05 04:40 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

I have my 4 jars in my attic, and the temp. stays warm during the day (about 85). At night it drops to about 50 probably. Can this induce pinning, even if the jar isn't even close to fully colonized?

Kind of, all depends on millions on things. You need to stay at a constent 78-85 F. (I prefer 82 F). Try using a TiT (Tub in Tub incubator/fruting chamber), a lot better!

NO it wont induce pinning. It will slow down colonisation.

Anymore advice, i got 2 different answers here? Im leaning towards thinking it wont induce pinning though, since its not fully colonized and doesn't stay cool for more than a day at a time.

No fresh air no light & low temps is no growth at all.

No fresh air, no light and high temps is mycelium growth.

Fresh air light and temps 65-85 (75F = optimum) = pins

Believe it or not you wont get pins in that incubator at 50F.

Yea, he right, like I said you can, but rear, sometimes happenes with me, when I have my jars in the dark, and when it's time to case them all, I have a couple of pins.

thanks a lot. It's supposed to be cold tonight and cool and cloudy the next couple days. I just put the jars inside in an upstairs closet where it's like 75-77. They Myc. is growing decent and its been 7 days today.

No doubt those temps will stall cubies. BTW they don't like change but they will except it as long as you don't fluctuate to much just like nature.
