anti-gay marriage people

pat robertson is on tv right now claiming that marriage is the foundation of our country and that by allowing two guys to be considered "married" would be destroying marriage as we know it, and therefore our society.
are there any of you out there who agree? I would really like to know how gay marriage really effects you. If you aren't gay, then by all means marry someone of the opposite sex. If you are gay, why shouldn't you be allowed to be married if you really love someone?
I REALLY can't see what the problem is. According to state polls, there are tons and tons of people who think gay marriage should be banished and actually ammend the state and eventually federal constitution.

Pat Robertson's a turd.

I haven't met any young people who are opposed to gay marriage, except for really stupid people.
So once the old farts die off, perhaps we'll have better values.

the pope's not pushing anything other than his health
this type of marriage has NOTHING to do with religion, it has to do with legal benefits and etc.

The irrational opposition to it has everything to do with religion.

no
the stupid people are just trying to involve religion, which has nothing to do with it outside of itself. Government recognized marriage =/= making a religion marry people it doesn't want to

if it has nothing to do with religion, then why are the majority of its anti-supporters religious?

Gay marriage is not going to bring America down. And you know why politicans push that very statement so much? Because they know if they associate gays with the downfall of society, then they will get support.
Thats the bottomline. It's politicans, backed by religious and moral "obligation," trying to get rid of a problem that really isnt a problem. Sorry, I cant really recall too many problems arising from gay marriage (aside from the usual marriage problems that straight couples have). The fact is, gay marriage would do one huge thing, one thing that the politicans opposing it absolutely fear: it would create...TOLERENCE!
Oh god! Not that! Ahhh! Thats just the problem!
.....
Wait...That's not really a problem. No, it's a solution. It's a logical step in advancement of society. It's conservative old men saying that they don't want their kids being taught that "this" is right. It's young conservatives pushing what they have been taught on everybody else.
This is my opinion, and I am in no way trying to say that conservatives are not tolerant. Its just that the majority of people against gay marriage carry the conservative flag.

hmm what about seperation of church and state? Really the state shouldnt be able to sponsor any religious ceremony. How bout if we made some federal law regarding the sanctity of animal sacrafices? I bet the christian zombies would start a revolution.

i didn't really mean this to turn in to a debate. it just blows my mind with how close-minded people actually are.
THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE DIFFERENT THEN YOU! don't try to make them live like you.

Please do NOT underestimate the Pope's influence over politics.

We all know that legal marriage shouldn't have anything to do with religious marrieage, but tell that to the religious goofs who are shitting themselves over this nonsense.
