How do i know if my cakes r to dry? then what?

how do i know if my cakes r to dry? i inoculated 12 pf tek cakes 3 days ago and am using mm filter disk in 1/2 pint jars. they are fairly solid should they look moist? when should i see some growth?

If you followed the PF tek recipe for the correct amount of water / BRF / VERM, then your jars should have enough water. You usually dont have to worry about rehydrating cakes till after their first flush, but I dont use cakes so what do I know. Also, germination of spores usually has visible signs of growth within 3 - 5 days, so just be patient.
