Jar casing..
    #3999348 - 04/01/05 09:10 AM (19 years, 9 months ago)

Ey guys, I have a almost complete colonized jar. What I want to do is to make a jar casing.

- Dunk the cake.
- Mix some verm with peat and lime.
- Put the cake back in the jar.
- Add a layer of my casing mix on the cake.

Like this:

Will this work? How big must my casing layer be? Need it to incubate after I've cased it?

Thnx already!!

PC, Sv

if your wanting to case it then just crumble it up and case it in a pan of some sort your results will be much better.

I wouldn't. I mean, then you're relying solely on the top of the cake for fruiting, and IMO, your results would be less than birthing a cake OR doing a full size casing.

so make a small casing if you only have one cake.

yea, you don't need 2 cakes to make a casing, you just need 2 to make a larger casing. crumble and case the cake for much better results.

I'd just birth the cake PF style rather than casing the top of it in the jar, unless you plan on doing a small casing and crumbling the cake.

If I do it with one cake:

-How much casing?
-How long in the icubator?

Hey you stole my pic you sacrat!

Casing layer 1/4th of the substrate depth. I dont think casing one cake will give you much more yield then just birthing it. But ive never cased a cake so...
But try it, at least you learn some about casing techniques.

In teh incubator untill the myc is poking through teh casing layer, if its very uneven patch it, etc etc.
