When to flush
    #3999466 - 04/01/05 11:37 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

A lot of my mushrooms look ready to be harvested. But there are also a lot of smaller ones (not aborts) that need another day. Should I harvest now or wait another day for the rest to catch up. Or how about selective harvesting? What harm could come of leaving them for another day?

One last thing, if I want to trip tomorrow night, will they be dry enough if I pick them today? Or should I just let them grow till tomorrow and eat them fresh? 40 grams wet weight is good right?

I'd wait till tomorrow and eat em fresh, they seem to me to do quite a bit more fresh.

No harm done in picking at different intervals; harvesting as they mature is fine.

You'll need a food dehydrator to get them cracker dry in one day. 40 fresh grams could be 2-4 grams dried, there's no way to tell.

Just wait until tomarrow to harvest. No harm, so long as nothing starts to rot.

No need to dry what you ingest - either.

Ones you want to save for a later time, must be dried - cracker dry.

40 grams wet should get you going .........good :stoned:

man i love you guys. this was my first time growing them and following your guys advice and tips really helped out. man i am so excited for tomorrow.

diver among others mentioned that there is no real way to tell what the dry weight will be of fresh mushrooms. so since this is my first time tripping in 15 years I want to be pretty accurate with the dosage so I would like to dry the ones i pick in a food hydrator. is this the quickest and most reliable method to go and do stores even sell dehydrators without a heater? i suppose you just have to disconnect it yourself eh?

one more question, when i pick them off, do i just pull them off or do i cut them by the base with a knife or scissor?

American harvest type dehydrators are PRIMO. They have a temp setting dial. Low setting is 95F. Set it there & forget it. Best, reliable & dependable method of dry (cracker dry) that exists IMHO.

brush the worst off while wet. once dry that stuff brushes off more easily.
