For the Illinois/Chi-towners...
    #3999349 - 04/01/05 11:10 AM (11 years, 8 months ago)

I need some ideas. My birthday is coming up in two weeks.
I'll be 27. I want to go to Chicago and celebrate, but I've never been there. I definately want to go have a kick-ass time in the big city, but am not sure where exactly to let loose. I know there are quite a few members from this area...so can someone help me out? Give me some ideas...anyone want to join?

~Desiree~

27...wow.  I hope I die before I get that old.

 j/k

Seriously though, theres so much fun shit to do in Chicago.  Give us some ideas of the kind of stuff you like....

I mean, if it was ME, I'd say go to Heavenly Bodies and drop a few hundred bucks on some beautiful girls, but I doubt thats your cup of tea....

I am somewhat of a naughty girl. I'm not into girls, but I'd consider going to a strip club. My sister is into the girl thing, she'll be going with me wherever I go. She'd definately be up for that. I don't want to spend my money on other women though...I want to spend my money on myself. I like to drink occasionally. I like to dance and I don't mind getting a little wild sometimes.

If you get into good live music, check out jambase.com for the night you want to celebrate. Personally, I used to live in Chi-Town and would whole-heartedly recommend Griffin's Public Ale House (Hack N Wheeze plays thursdays, no cover), Maryrs' Pub (good live jam stuff, often free), The Abbey which hosts everything from hip-hop to jam-bands, or the Kingston Mines for blues/jazz stuff.

Oh how I miss the Chi-Town music scene. Happy birthday and have fun!!!

Des, instead of Chicago, you could come to DeKalb. I live like 2 blocks from Greek Row- if you come here, I guarantee all the warm domestic beer you can keg-stand.

Wear your abercrombie cargo shorts.

Wha-what? I live about 2 minutes from the Empty Bottle. I've never been there, though. I just moved here a few months ago, and there's lots of places I haven't been to yet.

I just clicked on that...thanks for the link. I'll need to get on mapquest for directions.
I think I pass through DeKalb occasionally. My job sends me to other stores sometimes and I recall seeing an exit off of I-80 for DeKalb.

I must party with a shroomerite on my birthday!!

If you ever DO pass through here, get in touch with Meatspace or myself.  We'll have a smoke and a pancake.

I saw your thread in cultivation yesterday; The Greens suck.

Ooooh, opening day for baseball is nearing.

Head to the intersection of Clark and Belmont and walk around Clark. Lots of weird stores and the nightlife is alive with the drunk cubs fans wandering in and out of the bars. Just don't park at the duncan donuts, they're bastards and will boot your car
