Illusions
    #3995322 - 03/31/05 01:02 PM (19 years, 2 days ago)

when people say that they know that they are living an illusion why do they keep living and experiencing it when they have realised all this?

its like the fish in water, and water being the illusion comment what happens if the fish realises its water that it is living in and decides to seek whats its boundries are and takes the jump out from the water and get land? death, another illusion? or just gets to see a greater picture?

when does the illusion stop? or just give up on looking and accept the life you are living and experiencing and live peaceful to know that you are comfortable in living an illusion? one of the greatest releifs of all.

peace and love all

Living in an illusion and attempting to end illusions in an illusion.
~complicated.

Or is the illusion your allusion to it indeed being an illusion?

Why bother finding and searching for anything at all for that matter?

You have it all... you just need to realize it.  :smirk:

-You make illusions, you percieve illusions, you experience your own illusions, and cast doubts on other's illusions.

You have the ability to create, manifest, and destroy other's illusions all at once, as well as perpetuating your own. It's your choice to do so, or to not.

when people say that they know that they are living an illusion why do they keep living and experiencing it.

Simple. Because they don't know it. They read it in some Hindu or Zen-based text on Maya or similar principle.

Amen to everything in this thread!

So what if my gardenias are an illusion? They smell good and look beautiful. Why do people sometimes say the word "illusion" like its a bad thing. A lot of them are really sweet!

Hey, that's right. We are creators at play. Sometimes we want a sad show and sometimes a beatiful one.

Still the question remains, what's behind the movie screen? I hear a peek can be had for about 5 grams of shrooms. :mushroom2:

"when people say that they know that they are living an illusion why do they keep living and experiencing it when they have realised all this?"

when you know you are looking at a tree, do you cease to see and experience it?

labeling something, even labeling it an illusion, will not cause you to stop experiencing that thing.

Once you realize it is an illusion, however, you can begin to explore what that means, and what you can do with it, if anything. If you so choose, you can perhaps find your way out of the illusion.

Realizing things are not what they seem is the beginning of the journey, not the end.

My parents have illusions, plenty of them, they attempt to create some game type atmosphere where testing occurs...

I don't know so much if they believe in their illusions, so much as they're both in a delusional state. I don't wish to expound on that anymore... but it's kinda pathetic.

Either way, an illusion is inconsequential in terms of it's nature if you don't give it any merit, and are judging the actual occurence of events versus the portrayed/suggested details of events.

It isn't entirely acurate to say I am living an illusion, though it isn't false. It just means I have come to realize a deeper and more primary level of existence than the mere physical, compared to which the physical is an illusion. But to the physical, deeper planes seem subtle and mysterious?*they* seem like the illusions! Saying I live an illusion is justifyable in that the most subtle plane takes precedence.

 We really don't... unless you believe that you do, in which case you have the illusion that you need to. You don't have to eat, you don't have to talk, you don't have to live... someone sold the illusion that it was all good, so other's tried it all out

Materialistic things, are the greatest illusions that exist. not that their is anything wrong with them or anything

how do you know?, what do you do to test what an illusion is and how does that fit into your life?

If the shoe fits where it... If it doesn't stick, toss out those ol' ill fitting shoes for a new pair... You can always go on with barefeet as well... An illusion in terms of belief subsets is what I've been making references to... the only way is to try to see if your comfortable with the notions that are presented.

My whole fuckin' life is an illusion to some, great to me  ... I'm happy with what I do, perhaps you needn't care so much and just do rather then question... provided you're happy with the end result.

Generally though, If you question whether or not it is an illusion... chances are that it is (In which case question everything ). Ideas, and concepts that are readily understood, have a firm basis in reality, and aren't perpetuated through "fluff" are generally the illusions that I keep. But, different strokes, different folks.
