I finally got out into my field/forest with the camera today. I came across some pretty cool stuff. Most of the mushrooms i saw were victims of hungry critters but i found a few whole ones. I also came across the grand daddy of fungus's which was about 2 feet wide and probably half a foot thick! .. enjoy the pics!

this is my favorite of the day...

this is that bohemoth fungus i mentioned...

... and another

here's my hunting partner

Your favorite mushroom is Psilocybe montana, a non psychoactive species.

Great pictures. I like the dog the best, personally. The dog would make the perfect shrooming companion. Most other humans I find aren't that great, because they tend to rush you. MJ, I found these photos of montana. http://www.grzyby.pl/gatunki/Psilocybe_montana.htm I can't read Polish or whatever it is, so I just stopped for a look. Are these all the same mushrooms, then? Also, if you look in a guidebook, you get something like this for any given mushroom. Psilocybe montana (Pers.) P. Kumm. (1871) 1871 I assume is the year of the first id, but what about the name? Is the surname abbreviated too? What does Pers. mean? Thanks

A few years back my Aunt and company came over to visit, they brought their two dalmations and since we had a border-bearded colly cross it was decided that a trip to the woods was in order.
My brother happened to be visiting at the time and since it was the time of year for it he went along too.
One of the Dalmations after skittering about and lolling his tongue saw my brother examining mushrooms and promptly ran off to find one his own and wolfed it down before anyone could stop him.
The identification of the species was impossible but he survived the experience whatever it was.
Usually myself and my brother visit these woods but more recently the only one i can find interested in foraging for mushrooms is my dear mother and so we set off with basket and knives and usually a camera or video camera so as to capture at least the honking of the deer.
Anyhow here is a picture courtesy of her Camera.
