Hi. I just bought some salvia tincture. Supposedly there is a salvinorin content of about 1.5mg per ml, and I have 10 ml. What is the best way to use the tincture? Thanks.

I've heard it causes a lot of mouth burn because of the high alcohol content. If you want to use it, you have to brush your teeth and use mouthwater to clean your mouth before using the tincture. This aids in absorbtion. Then take the tincture and hold it in your mouth for 20-30 minutes.

Woah! Okay thanks. I had no idea it had to be held that long. I'm wondering, how much of my 10ml should i use? Me and my friends all bought it, so I'm hoping that it can work in smaller doses so we can split it up, like will I have to use the whole bottle or just some of it? how much would you recommend?

It is EXTREMELY important that you shake the bottle before each and every use. 3 dropperfuls are typically used for gentle aromatherapy sessions, 5 for moderate, and 7 dropperfuls for extended aromatherapy sessions.
^ that's what it says on iamshaman.com, I'm not sure if you have the same stuff though. Also, when you put the tincture in your mouth make sure you mix it with an equal amount of water so that it doesn't burn as much. In other words, if you use 7 dropperfuls use 7 dropperfuls of water too.

why don't you put it on rolling papers, let it dry, then smoke that?
Or are you specifically looking to get an oral dose?

tincture is for oral use ~half of it for a nice strong experience, many people hold it in their mouth, personally I would drink half (5ml) with water after shaking it up.
if you did manage to dry it on a rolling paper you would have to cut it into ~32 strong doses (for smoking in a pipe).

BTW when I say nice strong experience I mean comfortably strong you might have to drink it all to knock your socks off. each smoke will knock your socks off, so smoking wise the same amount of salvinorin is 20 to 30 times more impressive (but shorter duration). I had 5mg chewed (oral) last night and it was a nice celebration for selling some paintings, but not nearly as strong as a smoked session. I was able to continue reading my book, but I had CEV's. I was lazy to cut the paper and fill the pipe. (imagine!)

what drying it on blotter? Would it still be orally active if you just damped some paper with it, then let it dry?

oral activity is low and slow I would only dry it on cigarette paper because oral use is so wasteful and unsatisfying. that way, at least you can smoke the papers later at 50 times the potency of the oral experiment, BUT if you use blotter paper, you will have to smoke larger amounts of stuff you won't want in your lungs, and it wont come off the paper that easily in your mouth anyway as it is not soluble in saliva.

OK, so if I dry it on cigarette paper, and roll a cigarette, will it be absorbed through the normal smoking of the cigarette?
p.s. why wouldn't it work if I just swallowed the tincture? Will it get broken down through my digestive tract?

You cant smoke salvia like a cigerette or joint form. Youd need to cut off TINY peices of paper and pack it into a bowl, and hold the lighter on the paper while you rip it, then hold it in for 30 seconds.
Salvia is poorly absorbed through your stomach lining, better in the mouth with alcohol (better in the lungs, I think).
