Tried this tonight with an oven bag and it wouldn't sink. Just floated.
I'm guessing I need a thicker mil bag. Like a spawn bag or the like. (3 mil)
Bag isnt the problem . Was there a lot of air space in it.
If you had h/poo bag content to feild capacity, squeezed out the air, it should not be buoyant.
If it is, you can simply use a plate, bowl or something else softly wedged into the pot, to keep the bag submerged.
Hope that helps.

I thought I squeezed all the air out.
I'm pretty sure it was at field capacity.

I'll try it again here in a sec. and do that if it floats.
More than likely something I did wrong

This will be a bad question but here it is: with this are you jsut making cakes of some sort, do you need spores to inject. Sorry its so dumb but you have to ask:)

Spores into WBS quart jars, colonize WBS, spawn into pasturized h/poo, incubate until 100% colonized, add casing cover, incubate until rhyzo shows through casing cover, expose to light / air exchange & fruit out.

I'm confused. Why is all this done? Can't you just order a bag of pre-pastuerized poo/straw from Tenn. Stud and spawn your colonized substrate right to that?
<---- newb to the max but the above is what I'd planned on doing with the WBS that I'm nocking next week.
I know the only stupid question is the one not asked but sometimes it feel about an inch tall when I ask em
Thanks

This thread is for people that have collected their own horse poo, and still need that pasteurization step.
Yes, you can do that with Tenn. stud manure, but it's much more fun to collect it and do the steps yourself!

No, properly aged horse poo has an almost sweet, earthy smell. It doesn't smell bad at all.

If you can find h/poo that is a bit "weathered", as in rained on & dried out a few times. It is usualy - good to go - as/is.
I/G said it right. Pick up a handfull & give it a light whiff. If it smells like good healthy garden dirt (without PISS smell). Begin gathering & go for it.
If all of it has piss smell, gather anyway. Then spread out on tarp & allow it to dry or weather out. Once piss smell is utterly gone, its good to go.
