Not sure if this is the right forum to ask in...
I went out looking for mushies and found some on some trees...Kind of dead rotting trees...I know that you guys can't tell me Exactly what they were by this general discription...But i was just hoping someone could throw down any pics they had or any links...I've looked around a bit on shroomery, found some that were nice, but just wanted to see if you guys had anything different...
Anways, it was whitish/yellowish and when i took one off the tree it was rubbery feeling, no gills...Do most mushrooms that grow one dead/dying trees have no gills or only at a certain time?... It remined me of blue oysters, but these were more rounded out and not really pretty, just looked like a common mushroom...(common as in i've seen lots of them near lakes and "bog"like areas"..Well any input is appreciated. Thankx

What is your climate currently like? Was it growing off deciduous or coniferous wood? Was the texture rubbery or gelatinous? Could you see pores on the underside of the mushroom?

Bi0tek - Not so much, it didn't have ridges, it was more Rounded out.I felt like a tire - Very rubbery and I tried to break it in half, it was rather difficult...It wasn't a very pretty mushroom... With a whiter color. No visibal spores, it didnt even have gills on the underside. Temps are 70F in the day 40-50F at night, it was near lots of water...No visibal spores, it didnt even have gills on the underside.
I believe that the tree was deciduous..Wasn't a big pine, and it looked like it lived only during summer-like conditions....Annual? I forgot the name..Flowers are bi-annual,annual and something else, anyways...
Thankx for the help, that's a lot of info. you asked for, you're doing pretty great for not even seeing a picture

Perhaps you found specimens of piptoporus betulins, a very common mushroom that grows primarily on beech.
The specimens in the photo are quite brownish, I have found more grey/blueish specimens myself very often as well.
