Seeing the Future - Bizarre Events
    #3995206 - 03/31/05 02:28 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

How and why do people dream the result of the lottery or horse races and win huge sums of cash?

I expect most people have heard a story of somebody winning the lottery or a horse race because they 'dreamed' the winner.  Urban myth?  Maybe not...

In 1917 a program was broadcasted on the BBC about John Godly, who, as an oxford undergraduate dreamed winners of horse races, and made several lump sums as a result.

Peter Fairly, the science correspondant of Independant Television, had a similar experience.  He told how, as he was driving to work one day in 1965, he heard a request on the car radio for a Mrs Blakeney; he had just driven through the village of Blakeney and a few minutes later, heard another reference to another totally unconnected Blakeney.  At the office he heard the name again, this time a horse running in a Derby.  He backed it and it won!

From then on he could pick winners merely by looking down a list of horses; the winner would 'leap off the page' at him.  He said that as soon as he began to think about it and worry, the faculty vanished...

I have experienced a 'memory of the future' as I have told on here before. So I believe this financial gain from psychic powers is very possible.

I would like to have a person who claimed to be 'open' or 'in tune' with these things hypnotised. The dream like state could allow them to see the future, like the results of next weeks lottery!

/requires proof.

Could be a large hoax, and a conspired event with predetermined winners.

Could be actual.

Could be luck and a high degree of coincidence.

Could be anecdotal evidence with no proof.

Could this degree of guessing be transmuted onto another field of study to determine the plausibility (e.g. a control that's used to determine the credibility)?

Luckily for me this mass view of cynicism will allow me to get away with making myself and my friends very rich.

EVERYBODY who wins the lottery (or similar random windfall) has a "story" after-the-fact. This is universal. "I was driving to work and saw these numbers on a billboard..."

It is human nature to assign meaning to events even when there is none.

The question is, is winning a lottery a winning at all?

 Nothing to work for  not that it wouldn't be good, but in the end, you'd end up living a lavicious useless lifestyle like most of the winners do.

"...will allow..."

"...will allow..."

"...will allow..."

For over 5 years here, young believers in magick have been telling us all what they were going to do, yet not one single thing out of thousands of esoteric claims or predictions has come to pass.

Shut up.

I don't care if you don't believe in the supernatural because I know it is real.

It is your view of reality that is flawed. You have taken one side. One view that does not allow anything beyond this view.

My outlook allows things that are outside the box. I can consider other phenomena without predujice. I don't have to believe in it or not.

But you, you always believe the not.

Don't take sides. Stay open.

I know what your getting at but when the governments eating your ass for debts that you could be jailed over, winning some money would certainly be a positive influence on ones life.

Where I live if you don't have money then you will be a tramp and die young...

a distinction between 'believe' and 'know'. Very nice.

do you believe this, or know it?

and you haven't?

oh, I see, outside the box. what a meaningful phrase!

you just said: I don't care if you don't believe in the supernatural because I know it is real. So whether or not you have to believe in it or not, you know it's real.

But you, you always believe the not.

mmm, I'm not gonna dispute this one. well maybe the 'always' part.

Maybe you feel you've achieved something by re-quoteing my entire post?

I stand by my 'contradiction', I know the supernatural exists I have experienced it and I don't believe in anything 100%, even my experiences.

I am prepared for your foolish attacks, they do nothing other than show you up for the picky, presumptuous, Swarmi copy you are.

Equally my posts show me up for the bitter intellectual, I am.

I would say its more being tired of the same stuck record as opposed to fear.

I'm not scared of being proved incorrect, it would be nice to be incorrect because then I don't have to think about the scary elements of the supernatural.  I don't enjoy it, I just refuse to be ignorant to it.

It would be nice to see Swami contribute something other than "I don't believe.  You can't prove it." :bitch:
