There are good trip reports, and there are bad trip reports. I write mine to be like narratives, like short stories that will entertain people moreso than just listing the events of what happened. No need to dismiss the entire genre or anything.

And we support each other because we're all having a wild variety of spiritually shocking psychedelic experiences and the reason we all come to this website in the first place is to share in that . . .

It's hard to put ones experiences on hallucinogens through words on a machine and convey that message to others clearly, it takes a bit of writing talent. I find them enjoyable, if you don't, then don't read 'em.

if its so hard then don't put them
people have these sort of nights EVERY NIGHT
no need to report them like some stupid 12 year old getting high for the first time and writing a 'trip report' on erowid.

12 year olds' stupid trip reports don't get on to erowid usually. They definitely filter their stuff through certain standards. Some people find trip reports really interesting/enlightening. Sometimes someone asks what something is like, and if you feel someone has described it well you can point them in the right direction.

And for me, it's all practice for novel-writing and short story-writing that could include psychedelic experiences that won't sound hokey.

By your logic, no one should ever read a book about:

falling in love
people dying
people learning things
the earth going about its natural ways

cause, all these things happen every day.

If tripping is all about hallucinating to you, then sure, trip reports might not do it for you.

But hallucinations are just the sensory input of tripping...when you write out a good trip report, you include hallucinatory descriptions but more than that describe what's happening to the soul.

Yeah, I used to read them before I actually ate some psychedelics. I just wanted to get all the input I could. But now that I've actually tripped myself a few times, they are really stupid and I never read them.

Plus they all say the same thing. Always.

If you can't pick out one of these themes, the person who wrote it is lying :

Infinity
Oneness
Wholeness
New perspectives
Terrible times

Always, always, they are about that. Always

Okay...but for me, those are themes I am really interested in, and when I see that someone I already find interesting on the boards has written a trip report, I want to see THEIR perspective on the experience. It's about getting to know people as much as it is getting to know drugs. We're all making friends here, and if something mindblowing (i.e. my recent acid trip) was really important to me, I want to make the best presentation out of it that I can to really communicate the experience..

I've never done a trip report, but I have had trips that didn't involve :

Infinity
Oneness
Wholeness
New perspectives
Terrible times

I'm always astonished when I read a trip report that's exactly like what you just alluded to, blink..."watched family guy, friends picked me up, went to their basement and watched chapelle's show, then played halo." I mean...c'mon!

Trip reports are good to tell others your expeince, not really lets so for others to read it, but for there to be a written history of your experience and add a feeling of closure for the trip. That's how it is for me anyway, I'm very glad when people reply and comment but it's 40% of that and 60% as closure and a record for the trip for me.

Maybe that's stupid, if so then I'm stupid and loving it.  :crazy2:
