hard to tell!
i personally can't see the bruising, but i think it's due poor pic quality.

i hope you can and find some fresher specimens.

Yeah guys. It's hard to make it out in person like I was sayin'. I saw it at the moment i picked... then looked later that day and said, "Nope..just seein stuff.." and now I'm pretty certain it's there and curiously enough, that interests me. The scanner didn't really get it of course because it's faint! I'm trying to get that monograph via Lib Loan right now by Herslin or something. But still it's probably another unknown Gym? But it may get more interesting <this season> and I'll be sure to keep ya'll posted,

FREEGAN

Keep us posted cosmicsea. The genus Gymnopilus will one day become well described, and we are making it happen.

Pictures of fresh specimens would be very helpful for researchers. It would also be very helpful if you could upload your photos to the Shroomery; I think I picked up malware when I looked at your pictures. If you need help with this, please PM me.

I see greening at the base of the stipe that is similar to greening in other gyms that have been posted up here.
Could those be aeruginosus?
Sporeworks seems to be selling aeruginosus spores--are they a tried and proven active gym?

Looks like a species of gymnopilus to me as well.
As shroomy dan mentioned, the species is alot bigger
than I ever imagined. I've found several with differing
characteristics. They don't all blue and that type of
greenish/blue hue is common in many of the specimens I have
found. Also the scaling of the cap when dry is a significant
Identifier..

I agree with both of you about the scientific possibilities and learning more about the Gymnopilus family. I just wonder about the possibility of activity and all that because of the slight greening effect. Anyways it's weird and I'm still trying to get that gymnopilus monograph. There has to be 100s - 1000s of unknown species just here in florida. I'm also expecting to find many more containing psilicybin hopefully...sort of like a floridian p. azurescens . god bless

well the link to your pictures didnt work for me

try uploading them to the shroomry directly

the three psychoactive Gymnopilus i have found here in florida are these:

G. luteus
G. luteoviridis
G. luteofolius

..and i might have mispelled some of those

ive also found and identified about 8 (id say) different non-active Gymns

all in florida only

and i dont believe ive ever found G spectabilis here, either
-it might grow in northern florida and georgia/texas
-but im just guessing right now

i have the Gymnopilus monograph in a box somewhere
i recently moved into a new place and its still in a box hidden

keep shroomin
GG
