Cracked Jars

My first batch of 6 jars cracked near the bottom from too much heat when I boiled all the water out of the pot and instead of letting them cool naturally I added water to the pot again so besides the moron that I am can anyone tell me if they have any experience with cracked jars good or bad. Basically can these cracks that dont seem to go completely through the glass (I cant really feel them when I run my fingers across) let in contaminates?

I accidentally pressure cooked all my moisture out with my 1/4 pint b+ jars, had a couple with the type of cracks you are describing, and they colonized just fine. Only birthed my first 2 cakes this a.m., so I don't know what will happen now, but so far, so good.

HQ and her jackal had 1 birdseed quart crack in the pressure cooker- didnt seem like you could feel the crack thru the glass, but it was definitely there. innoculated with other quarts, that one eventually died of some nastiness that started to grow where the crack was. plus, the water content never looked just rite... could just hae been cracked all the way thru and letting contams in and moisture out. dont know, but the others did okay- so... (not much help, i know :( ... )
