Small Mushies
    #3990435 - 03/30/05 03:27 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

:nonono: I've watched my mushies grow, they grow a bit like every hour or so...It's easy to tell how much they've grow in one day

I've heard of mushies abhorting at rather mature sizes, but i was curious as to why my ENTIRE flush decided to "abhort", the caps are about as big as dimes/nickels and the stems are about as thick as pencils, some a bit thicker...

I notcied that some started growing lopsided right before they started breaking veils, i was thinking that my oust might have some to do w/ it, but my air pumps in a tvyek plastic box and the only openings always push out air b/c my pmp has pos. pressure in it...

I was wondering if my print might have had something to do with it...What happens when mutes drop spores? Will the spore prints carry the mute char. w/ it?

Thankx

Im sorry to hear that man. Im new to this, but I always wondered about people who tell you to spray these disinfectants all over the place. They are designed to kill fungus and bacteria so I cant see them having any positive effect if they come in close contact with your shrooms.

could be the constant checking of your mushrooms. low humidity might have cause the problem bud.

how's your humidity lookin' in there?

Gt's

It stays at a nice 90%, after i fan it drops to 80%, maybe a little less, but i spray the walls a lil and after about 15mintues it reaches 90%...

Oust was only sprayed once and i left the door open, plus no outside air ever gets in, cept when i fan and i didnt fan for 2-3 days - had to wait for all the oust to dissipate

Thankx guys, im not sure what did it like i said, maybe some oust got in, maybe not, but it defiently needs a dunk, the casing has shrunk about 1/4 - 1/2 an inch, over the course of one flush...Hmm..
I'll be picking the rest off tomorrow and printing them, I hope they drop spores...

I notieced that the bottom of the caps were a lil light colored, most mature mushies are darker, anyone know why they're light colored? Is it because they're so young? Fuck, i need spores lol.
Tnkx guys

That's okay. tell FOAF that they may be narrow, but they can get long as hell.

Gnostic, are you growing in a PMP? If so, what size air pump are you using and why are you fanning at all?

>> i didnt fan for 2-3 days.

that could be your problem right there bud. switch to an automated air exchange and that would probably help. :\

Either the substrate got to dry, or an underlying contam would be the best guess. If your substrate started off too dry (straight grains like WBS just soaked and not simmered with no verm in it, or whatever) it can happen.

There are many other possible reasons..maybe just alot of small ones..got slightly dry, not enough air and a crappy substrain ect. Sorry didnt have time to read any of the thread, so if this was covered ignore me

Lol

Forgot about the wbs issue
SHIT lol...

I'm sure that's what it was...

I have a PmP and I fan every 2-3 days or so b/c i think that co2 build up on the casing, air doesnt really flow around it, there was some valleys where co2 could build up, so i figured id ensure it'd move lol...
I have a big pump, has dual outlets, trust me, it pumps lol...

It was striaght WBS, that has to be what it was, this second flush i won't fan (un-necessary) and i'll just let it go...

Damn, lol...I'ma dunk it tomorrow night, it's probably lacking water, i might do it tonight, their can't be much water in it :frown:

:nonono:

Funny thing about that scat, even tho u didnt read it all, you probably said the most crucial thing, lol, you remined me about adding verm. to grains, the moisture content of my sub. was

Thankx everyone, lesson learned, add verm. for moisture or you'll get tiny shrooms, the girl friends gonna be disapointed cuz they're tiny, but i'll jus have to compensate :whoa: :doggystyle:

Lol

Thankx everyone

I just recently had this same problem. I had two casings of B+ started at different times. My first casing had a good number of pins and the mushies got pretty big. My second one had A TON OF PINS, like a carpet of them and i was stoked. But then all of the sudden the mushrooms started to mature while still only 2-3 inches tall.
After reading this i think the main difference was the big ones were from cased cakes (verm and rye) while the other ones were from cased rye (100% rye, no verm). Even my GTs were small and i watered all the casings during the grow.
How to fix this? Has anyone tried adding verm to a rye jar before PCing? How about mixing in verm with the substrate while making the casing?
Cause the cakes performed better, but take to long to colonize.
