How can 2 Casing's look so different?
    #3988641 - 03/30/05 01:00 AM (19 years, 22 days ago)

Hey Guy's. These are my very first two casing's. Both are two 1/2 pints BRF B+, each. The one was patched, but still had a lot of growth in casing layer. The other was lightly patched 3 days ago. I think I like it better. It's got just pins poking through, not all kinds of growth. Input very welcome. Thanks.
Peace,Love,Happiness and Harmony.

Does the one have overlay in it's future?

hi...Chic

We will continue on from the other thread.

Thanks for the welcome back.

Never move a Native American...they are the worst pack rats I have ever seen.
5 days of hell!!!!!

----

You have some matted mycelium on top of the one casing.
It's in the fruiting stage now...so the mycelium shouldn't be coming through the casing layer much more than it already has.
It's not going to overlay.

Looks like you have pins on both casings.

Can't wait to see more pictures.

Take care!~

ya, besides a few patches of mycilium, there isnt much of a difference between ur casings. the one with the myc. layer poppin thru probably just had a slightly thinner casing layer.

could the difference come from the colonized grain... Perhaps one wasn't as colonized as the other... or one was thicker then the other... more calcium in one casing ... ??? dunno...

I've been putting this calcium stuff called Aquatic nature in my casings, yep it's what you put in you fish tank... the casing is already 85% colonized after over two weeks... but the mycelium is not as closely nit as the ones I did 3 weeks ago with out the Aquatic Calcium  which are only just starting to colonize the upper layer 30% and much thicker...
have to wait and see...

Learned from experience here, got the wrong one once, got the right one now (this one is for good now). Sisters in law are tempting, so be sure to pick the right one, or you'll end up with nothing.

Welcome to the world of substrains and why no one can ever label exactly how a strain will preform, soley based on the name its given.
