I found a single mushroom yesterday growing under gum trees on the North coast of NSW Australia. I can't remember if it was growing out of the ground or possibly in the fallen bark of the tree.
This mushroom is unlike any I have ever come across. The cap is heavily bruised purple and the stem is bruised a vivid pink colour!
The cap is around 8 cm in diamter and the gills are a creamy white colour and attached to the stem. I was contemplating eating it due to the blue/purple of the cap but the pink stem kind of made me wary...
thanks in advance for any help guys. I wish I could get a picture up.
Be very cautious as to what you consider eating. Severe illness or even death could result. Just going by a bruising reaction is not enough for identification. Check out the guidelines sticky post for more details about the information that we need to be able to start the ID process.
