There is no definitive answer. They probably would have pinned w/o the cold shock, so long as conditions are good.

It all depends on conditions and strain/substrain!

This is not how it works. The cold shock slows vegetative growth, then initiation conditions ie. 92%+ RH and fresh air cause pinning.

probably, the fridge thing isn't neccessary but some strains are quite aggresive and will just keep colonizing, but i've never had that happen and it doesn't seem that many people here do either. i prob. wouldn't use the fridge just from hearing people talk about the bacteria that live there

High humidity and lots of fresh air, and you should be fine. Look for hyphae's recent posts. Good info IMO!

yeah if you can get even breakthrough of the myc. patching isn't even required, and most of the time (from what i hear) even if you think you have overlay you prob. don't, just gotta make sure you fruit as the myc. pokes through the top layer, don't wait for heavy coverage

just keep practicing sterile procedures and you'll be good 2 go and can keep movin up
