Help? Is it my friends birthdays?

First timer...
I inoculated 8 1/2 pint jars two weeks ago. I used Verm and BRF. I saw signs of Mycelium within 2-3 days. The Mycelium covered the entire outside of the jars on the 10-11 days. It is now day 14 and I would like anyones help on determening when to birth them. How do I know when the inside of the cake is totaly grown thru with the Mycelium? Or does this not matter, because the outside is the only surface area cover with mycelium to defend off contam?
Should I birth them now, or wait for Primordia?

When mine are ready to birth, I have found that they shrink. Even the one that I thought was doing better than all the rest of the cakes had less growth on the inside than another that I birthed, because one had shrunken and the other hadn't.

They have shrunk about 1cm off the jar. Area of shrinkage is 2/3-3/4 of the outside total. The area around the middle/top seem to be shrunk the most with the bottom having little if any shrinkage.

Hm.. I haven't done half pint jars yet, so I can't be sure, but I would say that you can take them out. Let's just hear what other people have to say about this.

Great idea. Thank you for your help. If no one else responds I will try to birth two and case another. Then wait 1-7 days for the others. Thanks again.

Can anyone else help with the information I have given?
